Indie Beauty Expo made its way to Dallas this month for the very first time! With large beauty shows such as The Makeup Show and Beautycon stopping through in the last few years, it was no surprise when IBE announced last fall that it would be coming to the city of southern glitz and glamour. As a matter of fact, Texas is the second largest beauty market in the country and Indie Beauty Expo fit right in with their larger-than-life electric and green-themed ambiance. It was pure food for the senses. While it is currently a huge beauty trend, eco-conscious beauty is far greater than that — it is a way of life.
Over 70 brands exhibited during the three-day expo to connect with indie beauty enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and buyers alike. Day one, Connect Indie, is specifically reserved for indie entrepreneurs to learn and network with other founders and industry experts. There are several informative panel discussions and workshops on this day. Day two, Shop Indie, is open to the general public and the perfect time for beauty lovers to discover and purchase the best indie beauty products. Day three, Trade Indie, is reserved for industry professionals to transact with the show’s large collection of independent beauty brands.
There was an excellent and well-rounded collection of indie brands that many may be familiar with thanks to the power of Instagram or perhaps not at all, but they were each equally amazing with their own intriguing lines of eco-friendly and green creams, elixirs, nail polishes and more. Texas-based, as well as Dallas-based, brands were also showcased at the expo.
I was able to experience the first Indie Beauty Expo in Dallas firsthand to share and it was an absolute blast!
After checking in, there were beautifully designed floral backdrops specially themed for the show with attractive neon lights. These made the ultimate photo ops for social media. I was greeted in various areas of the venue, Sixty Five Hundred, with bites such as frozen cocktails, LED cotton candy and dreamy flavors of nitrogen liquid ice cream. Branching Out Events provided the most beautiful custom flower crowns crafted with real flowers and fillers during the Shop Indie and Trade Indie expo days.
Throughout the event each day, there were panel discussions with some of the most credible and well-known voices in the indie beauty world both from Dallas and beyond. On the Refresh Your Routine: Clean Beauty Swaps panel, our very own Dallas fashion and lifestyle blogger, Christian Craven shared some of his greatest clean beauty tips also as the only male on the panel. The panels were an excellent opportunity to take a shopping break while gaining new knowledge…because beauty and brains, right? There was also a very chill and comfy lounge for resting or indulging in ice cream and sorbet during the expo.
From one beauty enthusiast to another, if you missed Indie Beauty Expo: Dallas 2017, definitely add this expo to your list for 2018. Refreshingly, each brand took pride in offering skincare and makeup products that were infused with the best natural ingredients and had eco-friendly packaging. With many of the brands being smaller or newly launched, it is nice to be able to connect with the owners and support them from the beginning of their journey. Plus, as a consumer, you are one of the very first to discover a number of products and brands all in one venue. Indie Beauty Expo also hosts shows in New York and Los Angeles.
Are beauty and fashion your thing? Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Ogle Face Off 2017 happening June 25th.
