At Ogle School, I found my niche. I have had the opportunity to embrace my creativity, explore my art, and share my gift with others…. – Roosa Velatina Jones
“My name is Roosa Velatina Jones. Im 26, a mother of three and stepmother of one. I am in the Air Force Reserves and before coming to Ogle School in Arlington I used to drive big rigs over the road. I originally chose Ogle School because it was the only cosmetology program my GI Bill would pay for. I never thought that it would be one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.
I have been on a quest in search of what I wanted to become in life. I’ve dabbled in a few career fields and never found that one career that made me happy to get up in the morning and dream about when I go to sleep at night. At Ogle School, I found my niche. I have had the opportunity to embrace my creativity, explore my art, and share my gift with others, as well as compete in multiple hair competitions. I found that I am not only aspiring to be a stylist, but an artist. I have gained confidence to pursue more endeavors because I want to do more and get better. I am most proud of placing first in the Bronner Brothers Student Mannequin competition and having my Ogle family there to support me. I was fearful at first and during the competition I wanted to quit, however, it was the most self gratifying experience I have ever had the luxury of being apart of. I don’t believe there is any such word as failure at Ogle. I have only gained wisdom in lessons learned and success in the pursuance of finding myself. Nothing compares to the comfort I feel with a pair of shears in hand and a comb in the other.
Ogle School has opened its doors to me and allowed me to explore a new world. It is a new world with green pastures, limitless skies, and a broad never ending horizon. I know that I can and will become what I want to be. With Ogle I am half way there to becoming a platform artist and hair show extraordinaire!”
