Everyone loves a cute Snapchat filter! Our favorites here at Ogle School have been the deer and flower crown. Want to know how you can achieve both filters in your Halloween makeup looks this year? Follow this step-by-step tutorial for all the details.
Get a Fresh Start
Start with a freshly cleansed face free of any other makeup. If you will be wearing a wig, tuck your hair completely under a wig cap that best matches your hair color. Be sure to prime your entire face with foundation primer to protect the skin since you will be wearing very heavy costume makeup. Apply 1-2 layers of your favorite foundation for the perfect canvas.
Create the Deer Face Structure
Use a dual-ended foundation stick 1-2 shades deeper than your usual shade. With the lighter end, highlight under the eyes, along the cheekbones, and your T-zone (center forehead and bridge of the nose). Blend the forehead and cheeks with a small blending sponge. Leave the bridge of the nose unblended.
Apply the deeper end of the foundation stick under the cheekbones and along the hairline to add structure. Blend with a clean small blending sponge. If you prefer, you can continue building the contour for more prominent features.
With a blush brush, apply a matching pressed powder contour to help set and reinforce the contour you’ve already created. You can also use a small dense brush to create the structure for the nose.
Shaping Your Deer Eyes
Fill in your brows as usual and use neutral, earth-tone eyeshadow colors for the eye look. The shape of the eyes is all in the eyeliner. With a black gel liner and a slanted silicone applicator, draw a graduated winged liner and extend the inner corner a few centimeters.
Blend white grease makeup just below each eye to brighten up the look, and line the lower waterline with a white eyeliner pencil.
Final Features: Deer Spots, Nose & Ears
These finishing touches are the most fun parts and really bring the entire look together! No deer makeup look is complete without those beautiful white spot markings, a snuggly black nose, and fuzzy ears — the works.
First, use a pointed silicone applicator to create the spot markings. There aren’t any rules to this step! Simply have fun and be creative. The best areas to apply them are in the highlighted areas of your face: along the cheekbones, across the bridge of the nose, and at the top of the forehead.
Next, use black grease makeup to create an adorable deer nose. How you choose to draw your nose will depend on your nose size and shape. Focus on the very bottom of the nose and around the nostrils.
Apply your favorite black lipstick on the top lip only. Don’t leave your bottom lip bare! Complete a full lip look by adding a pink gloss to the bottom lip.
Tip: Add cute and unique costume false lashes to make your look even more interesting!
Now you’re all done with your makeup! All you need to finish your deer Halloween look is a fun wig and deer ears/antlers. I recommend a wavy bob or pixie cut. Slip on a headband with flowers and deer ears to complete the look and you’ll be Snapchat ready.
