How CBD Can Help Skin Care and Ways to Get Started

CBD is as popular as ever, with uses that range from hair products to sleeping aids. CBD is one of the over 100 cannabinoid ingredients found in the cannabis plant. For this reason, some may be skeptical to try this product because they feel it carries a certain stigma. However, in the salon, CBD can be useful in many products such as creams and conditioners.

CBD Types

To get started using CBD in your salon, you first need to find products you trust. Primarily, there are three CBD products you can choose from that are available in skin care products. The first is full-spectrum CBD. Full-spectrum CBD contains ingredients, substances and cannabinoids found in hemp, and occasionally, even a trace or two of THC. The next is broad-spectrum CBD, a milder option with other hemp ingredients but without THC. The third option is CBD isolate and it is exactly as it sounds: CBD in its purest and simplest form, without any other ingredients found in hemp. Labels will often identify the kind of CBD product and may say other things such as “hemp extract.” Knowing this, be sure to check out a variety of CBD products and their ingredients to find one you are comfortable with.

CBD Uses

Different CBD types are best with specific intentions. For facial care, CBD isolate is often superior because it does not clog up pores. It can also be used as a treatment for acne and dermatitis because it acts as an anti-inflammatory and has detoxing effects. To treat anxiety and pain through skin care, a CBD product with a higher amount of CBD is needed to offset the effects. In the salon, these products can have a calming effect and help your client to be more relaxed.

Presenting to Clients

If you are ready to introduce CBD into your salon, be aware that not all of your clients may be on board with it. To use CBD, it must have less than 0.3% THC, according to PBS. While this may seem like hardly anything, depending on your clientele, some may be immediately repulsed at the thought of THC, while others may be immediately drawn to it. As you discover the THC products you trust and like the most, share them with your clients and explain to them the positive effects they have. Allow your clients to do their own research and discover if they prefer a full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, or CBD isolate.

The Effects of CBD

CBD is growing in popularity because of its many benefits. CBD is known to relieve stress, anxiety, pain and to create a calming sensation. CBD also has great effects on the skin and other areas as an anti-inflammatory. However, realize that CBD can have negative effects, especially if used too much. It can cause fatigue, drowsiness and cottonmouth, and sometimes interacts with other medicines or treatments. For this reason, it is always best to check with your doctor if you have any concerns about using CBD along with another supplement.
